There are three filters that get examined and changed, if necessary. These are the:

  • Air filter
  • Oil filter
  • Cabin filter

The purpose of the air filter is to keep dirt and dust out of the engine. The oil filter keeps any debris that might be in the oil from damaging the engine. Cabin filters make sure everyone on board is breathing in clean air.

The Car Battery

Every time you take your car in for an oil change, the battery is checked to make sure there are no signs of leaking or erosion and that it holds a charge.

Brake Fluid

As you would expect, brake fluid is a vital part of the safe operation of your brakes. Accordingly, it gets checked every time to ensure that it isn’t corroded or running low. Brake fluid should be changed about every two years.

The Lights

An inspection of the lights involves a check of the blinkers, brake lights, headlights, and taillights to make sure no bulbs are burnt out and that everything works the way it should.

Transmission Fluid

The job of the transmission fluid is to ensure the transmission performs the way it’s supposed to and doesn’t overheat. It gets checked to make sure it’s full and clean.

Power Steering Fluid

The power steering fluid is checked for levels and to make sure there’s no eroding. The steering pump hoses are also inspected for signs of leaking.

Antifreeze is important because it keeps the engine from overheating by raising the engine coolant’s boiling point while it prevents fluids from freezing. The antifreeze gets topped off every time.

For the most part, your engine’s belts usually need to be tightened during an oil change. Belts will need to be replaced if they exhibit any of the following signs:

  • General wear and tear
  • Rotting
  • Glazing
  • Bulging

The Tires

Your vehicles tires are given a quick examination to make sure they’re properly inflated and in good condition.
