Toyota Tacoma 3rd-Generation Engines And Specs

The 3rd generation of the Toyota Tacoma ran from 2016 to 2023. Throughout that time, two Toyota Tacoma 3rd-generation engines were available. Review the engines and specifications below: 

2.7L 4-Cylinder Engine

• 159 hp
• 180 lb-ft of torque

3.5L V6 Engine

• 278 hp
• 265 lb-ft of torque

Tacoma models from the 3rd generation came with a standard leaf spring rear suspension. While durable and good at withstanding heavy payloads, leaf spring rear suspension systems have a more rigid ride quality, which is less comfortable on Lynn roads. Additionally, the rigidity of leaf springs makes them less ideal for bumpy off-road terrain. However, the 3rd-generation Tacoma still has plenty of fans, and many drivers enjoy customizing their truck with an upgraded suspension.

The 4th generation of the Toyota Tacoma is the current generation, starting with the 2024 model year. This generation was launched with a brand-new Toyota Tacoma engine, offering elevated performance and available hybrid power on the roads and trails near Salem.
