The team at Ira Toyota of Danvers is here to help you find the best model for all our friends and their families in the Danvers, Peabody, and Salem, MA, areas. Read on to learn how the Tundra can bring you closer to nature, but not too close.

Factors Under the Hood That Affect Your Towing Capacity

2022 Toyota TundraThere are several factors that can affect your towing capacity, some of them are under the hood, such as your engine. The standard engine is the i-Force 3.5L-T V6 with up to 389 horsepower and 405 lb-ft of torque. If you’re looking for an eco-friendlier drive, consider the available i-FORCE MAX 3.5L-T V6 Hybrid, which still offers 437 horsepower and 583 lb-ft of torque.

Another factor involved in your towing capacity is your drivetrain. The 2022 Toyota Tundra comes standard with rear-wheel drive, which means engine power only goes to the rear wheels. You also have the option of equipping a 4-wheel drive, which means power goes to each wheel individually. Since engine power is routed differently, the amount of power to tow is variable between the two.

Body Style Factors That Affect Your Towing Capacity

Another set of factors involved in your overall towing capability is what bodystyle configuration you’ve chosen. The 2022 Toyota Tundra has two cab styles and three bed styles to mix and match.

The two cab styles are DoubleCab and CrewMax, which both seat up to five people. The biggest difference is that the DoubleCab has 33.3 inches of rear legroom and the CrewMax has 41.6 inches of rear legroom.

The tradeoff comes with the bed lengths. Both cab styles offer a 6.5-foot option, but the DoubleCab is available with an 8.1-foot option. The other option on the CrewMax is 5.5 feet, to accommodate for the extra space in the cab.

Another thing to bear in mind, is that Hybrid models are only available with CrewMax cabs.

Towing Capacities by Configuration

Between trim level, engine, drivetrain, cab style, and bed length, there are 39 potential towing capacity options to choose from. To help you narrow down what you might be looking for, we’ve put the maximum available capacity for each configuration into the chart below.
