2020 Toyota Prius Prime Engine

Prius Prime Hybrid Powertrain Specs

The Prius Prime is a versatile hybrid car that offers a little bit of everything. First, it includes a plug-in feature that keeps the battery energized. When fully charged, the Prius Prime can operate in a fully EV (electric vehicle) Mode for up to an EPA-estimated 25 miles.1 The battery has an estimated charging time of approximately two hours with a 240-volt outlet.

If your charge is low, this car operates as a hybrid vehicle that runs on both an electric motor and gas engine. This powertrain pairs a 1.8L I-4 engine with a permanent magnet AC synchronous motor. It produces a hybrid system net power of 121 horsepower.

The hybrid configuration gets an EPA-estimated fuel economy of 55 MPG city and 53 MPG highway and has an EPA-estimated driving range of up to 640 miles under ideal conditions.2, 3

Safety Technology

As you drive through town in your Prius Prime, the standard Toyota Safety Sense™ P system helps keep you confident and in control.

It includes a long list of driver-assist features, including:

  • Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection
  • Lane Departure Alert with Steering Assist
  • Automatic High Beams

This suite also includes Full-Speed Range Dynamic Radar Cruise Control (DRCC). DRCC is a smart cruise control that automatically adjusts your cruise control speed when you approach slower moving cars on the highway. It’s useful to help reduce fatigue during longer drives since you won’t have to continually disengage and re-engage your cruise control to go with the flow of traffic.

A Blind Spot Monitor is available as well. This system can help you change lanes or merge with even more assurance by alerting you to vehicles in your side blind spots.

Finally, let’s take a quick look inside the cabin. What you’ll probably notice first is the available 11.6-inch touch-screen with split-screen display. This is part of the available Premium Audio with Integrated Navigation system. It includes Bluetooth® wireless smartphone connectivity and Apple CarPlay® integration.

As you take the wheel, you’ll have a roomy 39.4 inches of front-seat headroom and 43.2 inches of front-seat legroom.

This car seats five passengers in total and provides 91.5 cubic feet of total passenger volume. Plus, it has a trunk volume of 19.8 cubic feet. Of course, if you need to bring longer or larger items, you can also fold down the second-row seats to expand the cargo space into the cabin.

Not to mention, standard heated seats help to keep you warm and toasty during those brutal New England winters.

I’m in the high risk group if I contract coronavirus, so have been staying at home. My inspection and routine maintenance was due and I’d been putting it off. Ira Toyota arranged to pick up my car, service it, inspect it, and return it to my driveway the next day. I really appreciated this level of service. Thank you so much.

The rear tailgate of my 2015 RAV4 became stuck in half closed position as one of the hydraulic arms failed. I immediately brought my auto to Ira Toyota Danvers Danvers. I was given a Lyft home while problem was diagnosed. Within an hour I was called and told arms had to be replaced and parts were ordered. parts were received within two days and technician had repair done and car washes by 8am next day. This service was great considering the load in the shop. Also having a $1300 repair covered by extended warranty made me even happier.
